Kevin studied a Bachelor of
Journalism at Rhodes and began his career in writing with the
Boksburg Advertiser in 1992. He did a stint with the Engineering
News before joining The Star as sub-editor on its regional
supplements in 1995.
In 1998 he was appointed as the
sports editor of The Sunday Independent and at the end of 1999
became sports editor of The Saturday Star.
After covering the Paralympics
in Sydney in 2000, Kevin was made Chief Sports Writer of The Star,
Saturday Star and Sunday Independent.
He has covered the Springbok end
of year European Tour in 2001 and went on to the Loureus Sports
Awards in Monte Carlo that year. He has covered every incoming
cricket and rugby tour to South Africa and Million Dollar Golf
Challenge since 1998.
His colourful writing and
in-depth analysis culminated in his award of 2003 SAB Sports
Writer of the Year, the countries most prestigious sports
journalism award.
