BOKSBURG PIPE BAND
MATTHEW KEYZER
In 2005 the CBC Boksburg /
Jeppe Pipe Band was formed, with Matthew as Pipe Sergeant. In February
2005 it was decided that the band would compete in the 2005 Pipe Band
Association of South Africa national competition season in the Novice
Juvenile section. The band was consistently placed in the top 3 in its
section during the year.
At the CBC annual prize giving
he has received several piping awards.
In April 2005 Mathew was
accepted as a band member of the African Skye Grade 4 Band. He competed
in both the Novice Juvenile and Grade 4 competitions throughout the
year. Four members of the band including Matthew were placed Second in
the Quartet Competition at the Royal Scottish Gathering.
After completing the 2006
season of competitions the Novice Juvenile band attained First place in
the Regional championships and Second in the Champion of Champions. The
African Skye Grade 4 band was placed Second throughout.
During the season Matthew also
competed in Solo piping competitions obtaining a Second and Fourth
place. He has also played at various social and school functions during
the year.
Matthew has been invited by
the Benoni High School Grade 4 Pipe Band to compete with the band in the
2006 World Championship to be held in Scotland in August. The band will
be playing at the Bridge of Allan,
North Berwick and the World Championship gatherings.
