ACADEMIC RESULTS - 2005
GRADE 12
The school was among the
top 50 schools in the Free State. 72 candidates wrote the exams of which 70
passed, giving a 97.22% pass rate.
Dillo Pie, a learner at the
school, was among the top 100 learners in the Free State.
Mariasdal
High School
was awarded trophies for -
Being among the top 50
schools in the Free State.
Being in position 9 in the
Motheo district.
Having the highest
percentage endorsement in the Thaba Nchu Cluster.
Being the best achieving
school in the Thaba Nchu Cluster.
Our school was placed 17th
overall in the Free State.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The school participated in
the Motheo District Tirisano Schools’ Choral Eisteddfod held at the Mmabana
Cultural Centre in Thaba Nchu. We obtained 1st position in the
Afrikaans Song Category (Onse Vader), 2nd position in the English
Song Catetory and 3rd position with out HIV/AIDS song.
The choir went further to
participate in the S.A. Schools’ Choral Eisteddfod (Motheo District) held at
the Seventh
Adventish Church in Bloemfontein. The choir was placed 2nd in
the Afrikaans Song Category and 3rd in the English Song Category.
The soccer and netball
teams participated in a tournament that included Tygerkloof, Vryburg,
Reivillo and Boshoff
High Schools. The soccer team won all its games except one. The netball
team won all its games. As a result the teams were the overall winners of
the tournament and were awarded trophies.
The soccer and netball
teams also participated in another tournament organized by St Boniface High
School. Both teams achieved 2nd positions to winners St
Boniface.
EDMUND RICE SOCIETY
The Edmund Rice Society is
involved on a daily basis in bringing some joy to the villagers and day
scholars by providing clothing and food to them. Members of the ERS
attended the Assisi Rally which they say was inspiring and they learned a
lot. Thanks to Brother Atty Sobayeni.
MEDIA CENTRE
A new Media Centre is fully
functional at the school. It consists of the computer room, audio-visual
centre and the library. Thanks to the Department of Education.
