WELCOME
We welcome all our new pupils,
Year 4 boys and Mr Keith Viljoen (Year 5V) to the Prep. Section.
ACADEMICS
The boys have already settled
into a good study routine. Term
1 is a CUMULATIVE term—continuous assessment takes place as no formal
exams are written. The
College diary is to be signed every day by parents, even if no homework
is given for the day.
Congratulations to our 2008 matric class on their excellent results achieved.
We are also extremely proud of our Year
6 classes of 2008
(present Year 7s) who achieved Top
20 results out of 1350 schools in the 2008 Conquesta Olympiads
held last year!
PARENTS’
EVENING
Many thanks for the good support
last night, Wednesday 21 January. Parents
have had the opportunity to meet their son’s teachers and be aware of
the expectations for a successful 2009.
EXTRA-MURAL PROGRAMME
All boys received the programme
last week. The programme is
designed so that boys can first attend culturals and then the sports’
practices afterwards. Homework
supervision is available in the Media Centre from 13h30—1500 from
Monday to Thursday. Parents
are reminded that outside interests must not clash with school
commitments.
SPORT
Well done on the excellent
support for cricket practices so early in the year.
Swimming is proving very popular with our boys.
Boys may also participate in tennis and squash.
CULTURALS
The main focus will be on the
Wednesday concert practices this term.
Boys may also participate in Chess, Pipe Band, Chatterbox and
Bible Quiz.
ACADEMIC
SUPPORT
Extra support will be on offer to
Year 6 and 7 boys (English and Math) this term.
The staff will monitor and assess all boys throughout the term.
Where needed, extra support will be provided.
SCHOOLBOY
OF THE WEEK AWARDS
These awards are presented at
Assembly every Monday to those boys who have achieved very well
according to their abilities. Boys
may keep their trophy for the duration of the week.
