High School

High School

We are committed to the development of the whole person. Our policies, processes and approach to teaching and learning are there to facilitate Academic, Physical, Cultural and Spiritual growth in all who are part of our College family and where the presence of each individual is valued.

The Christian ethos of our school is reflected in our selection process which although involving an entrance examination, is structured to acknowledge a wide variety of abilities and talents. We take great pride in developing each of our students to their utmost potential.

We strive to be a progressive and caring environment in which foundations are laid and character is developed, enriching the lives of our boys and preparing them for the opportunities and adventures they will have as they develop into the “Men of Honour”.  The men we expect them to be.

The school has a well-balanced academic and extra-mural and spiritual development programme, delivered by well-trained, motivated and experienced staff, with and understanding of the learning needs of the boys.

Subject Choices

Our subject choices are broken down between grade 8 & 9 and FET Phases (10 - 12). FET is broken down into compulsory & choice subjects.

ERS & Outreach

Founded in 1985, the Society gives students the opportunity to develop their spirituality through scripture, prayer and charitable deeds.

The House System

The High School is divided into 4 Houses, namely Founders, Edmund, Aquinas and Revill. Each house has 4 tutor or home groups.

Academics

Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg has been in the business of educating young men for over 80 years and has a long tradition of high academic standards. A 100% pass rate has been the norm over this time. The matric exemption rate is on average 85% – 95 %. We strive that all our learners achieve a bachelor’s degree admission.

For the past 22 years we have written the Independent Examination Board Exam and within the past few years (from groups of approximately 55 – 60 matrics) we have had 3 students qualify for the I.E.B. Top 50 nationally.

The academic staff is a well trained and highly motivated group of people. As R. Fikes says, “Exceptional people make exceptional sacrifices while demanding exceptional outcomes.”

Cultural

Christian Brother’s College Boksburg is proud to offer our High School pupils a wide range of cultural activities including debating, chess, public-speaking, marimbas and the school band. Find out more about each by viewing our cultural offering
