As Christian Brothers’ College (CBC) Boksburg commemorates its 90th anniversary, we reflect on a rich history that has profoundly shaped the educational landscape of the East Rand. Established in 1935, CBC Boksburg has steadfastly upheld a tradition of academic excellence, moral integrity, and holistic development. 

The Founding Years

In 1933, Father Maurus Revill, the Parish Priest of Boksburg, journeyed to Dublin, Ireland, to petition the Christian Brothers to establish a school for boys in Boksburg. His vision materialised when the Boksburg Town Council and the Johannesburg Consolidated Investment Company generously donated 22 acres of land for the school’s foundation. This collaborative effort laid the groundwork for what would become a beacon of learning and character formation.  

Growth and Development

From its humble beginnings, CBC Boksburg has evolved into a distinguished institution, offering education from Grade 000 to Matric. The school’s ethos centers on developing honest, enthusiastic, caring, and competent young men, equipped to navigate life’s challenges. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, Gospel values, and the spirit of Edmund Rice, the college fosters an environment where each student’s presence is valued, and their potential is nurtured.  

A Network of Excellence

As part of the global network of Edmund Rice schools spanning 20 countries, CBC Boksburg embodies the principles of brotherhood, servant leadership, global citizenship, diversity, and the cultivation of men of honor. This affiliation enriches the school’s cultural fabric and broadens the horizons of its students, preparing them to make meaningful contributions both locally and internationally.  

Academic Achievements

The commitment to academic excellence is evident in the school’s consistent performance. As we celebrate this 90-year milestone, we also honor the Matric Class of 2024, who achieved a 100% pass rate, with an impressive 89% obtaining bachelor’s passes. These accomplishments reflect the dedication of both learners and educators in upholding the school’s high standards.

As we honour our past, we also look to the future with optimism and determination. The 90th anniversary serves as a unique moment in our College’s journey, marked by celebratory events that engage our boys, families, and the broader community. These festivities not only commemorate our history but also inspire continued growth and renewal.
