At CBC Boksburg, we are proud to nurture excellence across academics, culture, and sport – and few boys embody this spirit quite like Cristiano de Freitas, a standout swimmer whose dedication and talent continue to make waves both locally and nationally.

In April 2025, Cristiano competed at the SA National Juniors, delivering an exceptional performance that showcased not only his natural ability but also his relentless work ethic and discipline. His achievements at this prestigious competition were nothing short of remarkable:

Gold – 400m Individual Medley, where he broke the EGA 14-year-old record with a blistering new time of 4:58.91

 Silver – 50m Breaststroke

Silver – 200m Breaststroke

Silver – 400m Freestyle

Silver – 800m Freestyle

Cristiano’s swimming accolades extend beyond the National Juniors. He was named the 2025 EGA Top Swimmer in the 13-14 age group, and in 2024, he earned the title of EGA Top Swimmer at Level 3. At CBC, he currently holds the U15 school record for the 50m Breaststroke, which he broke at our Interhouse Gala earlier this year.

Cristiano began his competitive swimming journey with the Boksburg Aquatic Saints Swimming Club in February 2022. His progression through the ranks, from being coached by Wade Marshall, then Sibani Makhanya, to now training under Robert Le Roux, reflects his dedication to growth and the support of a strong swimming community.

As a school, we are incredibly proud of Cristiano – not just for his medals and records, but for his humility, sportsmanship, and the example he sets for his peers. He is a true ambassador for CBC Boksburg and a valuable asset to our sports community.

With boys like Cristiano leading the way, the future of sport at CBC Boksburg is bright. We look forward to cheering him on as he continues to chase greatness, one stroke at a time.
